In the year 2000 I decided to open my own restaurant here in Fountain Hills, Arizona, with the name"Senor Taco", following as always our philosophy FHI (faith, honesty and integrity), which is the spirit of our companies. So far we have manage to open 8 restaurants and soon to come Tempe (Baseline & McClintock) and Apache Junction ( Apache Trail & Idaho). And best of all is that every one of our locations is operated by a trusted relative, who remains by textbook on all our quality guidelines, uses the best products and is personally responsible for all of our staff and that they will give first class service to our customers. The most important quality , is that we try to preserve the richness of our original kitchen, rescue our traditional meals not to loose our authenticity...and what better way to do it than with family.
Everything started back in 1974 in the beautiful city of San Diego, California. The day that my father, David Ruiz, opened opened at Point Loma (by Ocean Beach), his first restaurant of typical Mexican food, " Cotija Mexican Food", bringing the name of the town Cotija, in Michoacan (later evolved to "Cotijas").
When i made the decision to expand to Arizona, I already had 20 years of experience in "Cotijas Mexican Food". Even though this has been a well-known brand in San Diego for 41 years, for the American public, it is very difficult to pronounce the name and it means nothing to them. The name " Senor Taco" was suggested by my brother, Roberto Ruiz, and I immediately like it, this name instantly explains the product, and in addition the word "Senor", has a strong connotation. But to be honest, the name was not significant, playing my luck in search of new horizons was my major goal. Carrying nothing more than faith in our recipes and the experience gained in California.
The dishes that most identify us are our range of "Burritos", "Green Chile", " Carnitas", and "Shrimp". In addition, I want to stress that for the preparation of our dishes we use the best products on the market and maintain the same standards of quality in all of our stores.
